Early Life
Sümeyye Aydoğan was born on April 2, 1999, in Istanbul. She is of Albanian origin. Although she grew up in Istanbul, her family roots are connected to Aydın and Edirne.
After completing her primary and secondary education, she continued her studies at İstanbul Bilgi University. Between 2016 and 2022, she studied acting there and graduated with a degree in the field.
In interviews, the actress has spoken about her need for structure and routine. She describes herself as someone who strictly follows a daily schedule and tries not to step away from it for long, even when plans change. “In a fast-moving world, having written rules helps me feel safe,” she once said.
Sport has always been an important part of her life. Sümeyye Aydoğan follows a strict fitness program and says she genuinely enjoys it. Her family encouraged her to pursue sports from an early age. She played basketball for four years and took part in national team selection matches. During a break from filming, she also began taking tango lessons — a dance she had admired for a long time and decided to study while resting from work.
Career
Sümeyye Aydoğan began her acting career with the film Aile Hükümeti, released in 2020. The project became her first professional screen experience.
In 2021, she appeared on television for the first time, playing Menekşe in the series Kahraman Babam. During the same year, she also appeared in the series Sadakatsiz as Ceren and played Oya in the film Geçen Yaz.
In 2022, she gained wider public attention after joining the cast of Duy Beni. She portrayed Melisa Gerçek, one of the central characters in a storyline focused on bullying among teenagers. The role became closely associated with her name and brought her broader recognition among viewers.
The year 2023 became one of the most active periods of her career. After Duy Beni, she was cast in a leading role in Taçsiz Prenses, which aired on FOX. Due to low ratings, the series was paused after its tenth episode, its storyline was later revised, and Sümeyye Aydoğan left the project.
During the same period, she appeared in the series Akif, a 13-episode production released on the state digital platform Tabii, as well as in Magarsus, produced for the Turkish streaming platform BluTV.
In the summer of 2023, the series Dönence aired on Kanal D, with Sümeyye Aydoğan in the leading female role. The project marked her second collaboration with actor Caner Topçu, following their earlier work together on Duy Beni.
In 2024, she played the leading female role in the series Gaddar, starring alongside Çağatay Ulusoy. After completing the project, the actress traveled to England, where she spent time resting and improving her English. Upon returning to Istanbul, she continued her acting training with her coach.
Public Image and Media Attention
After the release of Duy Beni, fans of the series began to note Sümeyye Aydoğan’s striking resemblance to another well-known Turkish actress, Serenay Sarıkaya. At first, the comparisons focused mainly on physical appearance. Later, with the actress’s new projects, some viewers began to accuse her of imitating not only Serenay Sarıkaya’s look, but also her style and acting manner. These discussions were actively shared among audiences and in Turkish media.
An unpleasant incident also took place during the filming of Duy Beni and gained wide attention on social media. Sümeyye Aydoğan, who was a close friend of the girlfriend of the series’ lead actor Caner Topçu, became involved in an online controversy surrounding actress Rabia Soytürk. Viewers noticed likes under comments that contained negative remarks about the actress’s height and appearance. Screenshots of these interactions circulated online and caused a strong reaction from part of the audience.
Another high-profile episode occurred during the filming of Dönence. Sümeyye Aydoğan had a serious conflict with actress Nazlı Çetin, who played her on-screen friend in the series. The dispute reportedly became so intense that filming was suspended for an entire week until the situation was resolved. The conflict was later confirmed by another actress involved in the project.
Because of these events, Sümeyye Aydoğan was, for a time, often perceived as a controversial figure. In recent years, however, this image has gradually begun to change. New projects and public appearances have increasingly shifted the focus from past disputes to her professional work.
Personal Life
Sümeyye Aydoğan prefers to keep her personal life private and away from the public eye. After the end of Duy Beni, rumors linked her to her former co-star Utku Coskun, but these were never confirmed.
In 2023, it became known that she was in a relationship with her Dönence co-star Atakan Hoşgören. The couple separated in February 2024. In May 2025, reports indicated that they had resumed their relationship a year after the breakup.
During the promotion of Gaddar in 2024, rumors emerged about a possible romance between Sümeyye Aydoğan and Çağatay Ulusoy. Addressing these claims, the actress stated: “There is friendship between Çağatay and me, but there is no love.”
