Dicle was born and raised in a mountain hut in the Turkish countryside. Oppressed by her older brothers, the young woman has spent years living in complete confinement. Forbidden to step beyond the yard of her own home, Dicle was never able to receive any kind of education. Caring for her ailing mother, she remains entirely cut off from the outside world. One day, after an earthquake strikes their region, Dicle’s path crosses with a soldier, Erkan, who left his comfortable life in Istanbul to serve in the army.
Dicle and Erkan’s meeting leads to tragic consequences. Marauders attack Dicle’s home with the intention of abducting her. Erkan tries to stop them, but a shootout breaks out, during which Dicle’s mother is killed and Erkan is seriously wounded. To save Erkan’s life, Dicle sacrifices herself and surrenders to the bandits. Thanks to Erkan, who reports the incident to his commander, Dicle is ultimately rescued.
When Erkan meets Dicle at the hospital, he witnesses the cruel way her brothers treat her. Following them, he manages to prevent further bloodshed. To protect the girl from an “honor killing,” Erkan is forced to marry Dicle.
While Dicle, with her pure and innocent heart, believes in this marriage, Erkan is bound by a promise to his childhood friend, whom he is supposed to marry after completing his military service. In order to shield Dicle from her brothers’ cruelty, Erkan has no choice but to take the illiterate girl with him to Istanbul.
As Dicle tries to adapt to the completely new world she encounters in Istanbul, how will Erkan explain his new marriage to his family?
