Early Life
Atakan Hoşgören was born on August 5, 1999, in Istanbul, the youngest of four children. His father worked as a car mechanic, and on his father’s side, the family is of Albanian descent, with roots going back to Pristina, in present-day Kosovo.
Before acting entered the picture, basketball came first. Hoşgören joined Beşiktaş’s youth program at around age seven and spent five years there with hopes of turning pro, until an injury put an end to that plan. After finishing high school, he went on to study business administration, in English, at Doğuş University in Istanbul.
His move into acting started with modeling and commercial work. He trained under several acting coaches along the way, including Celal Eldeniz, who also worked with the rest of the young cast on 4N1K.
Career
Hoşgören’s first TV credit came in 2017, in a small, unnamed part on the Star TV drama Yıldızlar Şahidim (Stars Are My Witness). It was a brief appearance, but enough to get him noticed by casting directors.
His breakout followed a year later, when he was cast as Ali Tekelioğlu in the 4N1K franchise, based on Büşra Yılmaz’s novels about a close-knit group of friends and their tangled love lives. He played the role in the 2018 film 4N1K 2 and that year’s TV adaptation (aired as 4N1K, also known as 4N1K: İlk Aşk), then returned to the character once more in the 2021 film 4N1K: Düğün. Opposite co-star Gözde Mutluer, the role made him a favorite with young viewers, and it’s still the part most associated with him.
2021 kept him on screen throughout the year. He played Murat, brother of the costumed lead character, in Akıncı, an ATV action series often cited as one of Turkish television’s first mainstream attempts at science fiction. That same year, he took the role of Umut — son of the lead character, a true-crime TV host — in Sana Söz (I Promise You), a mystery drama on Star TV.
In 2022, Hoşgören starred as Ege Şahin in İçimizdeki Ateş (also known internationally as The Interns), about four recent law school graduates competing for internships at a top firm. Ratings came in lower than expected, and the show was pulled after just five episodes.
He appeared in Koyu Beyaz the following year, then took on the role of Miro in Dönence, a Kanal D summer drama adapted from the Israeli series Exceptional, which had won a Diversify TV Award at MIPCOM Cannes in 2022. Filmed largely in the Aegean town of Foça, Dönence is also where Hoşgören met co-star Sümeyye Aydoğan.
He’s stayed steadily busy since: Kerim Kaleli in the Kanal D drama Yalan (2024), İlyas Dibekçi in the ATV family drama Zembilli (2025), and Mert in the romance Aşk Sadece Bir An (2025).
Personal Life
Hoşgören has occasionally been linked to co-stars over the years, including 4N1K author Büşra Yılmaz and his on-screen love interest Gözde Mutluer. He’s denied both rumors, saying in interviews that his focus was on his career rather than his personal life.
His most widely reported relationship has been with actress Sümeyye Aydoğan, whom he met while filming Dönence in the summer of 2023. The two were confirmed as a couple shortly after, split in April 2024, and were then photographed together at a film premiere in October 2025, appearing to give things another try. As of the most recent reports, neither has said publicly where things currently stand.
