Early Life
Ayça Erturan was born on August 1, 1983, in Istanbul, where she also grew up and finished school. Her family was a regular middle-class household — her mother was a homemaker and her father worked at a bank. She studied in the Radio and Television department at Marmara University and, at the same time, trained in acting at Pera Fine Arts. She got her start on stage through M.S.M. theater courses and later became part of the well-known BKM (Beşiktaş Cultural Center) comedy company.
Career
Erturan first became known through the sketch-comedy show Çok Güzel Hareketler Bunlar, which aired on Kanal D from 2008 to 2011 and showed off her timing for comedy. In 2013 she moved into drama with a role in Running Away From Rain (Yağmurdan Kaçarken) on ATV.
Wider recognition came from her role as Dilek in the comedy series Married and Furious (Evli ve Öfkeli) in 2015. She then took on a more serious part as Yeliz Ünsal in the hit drama Woman (Kadın), which ran on FOX from 2017 to 2018 and found a large audience abroad as well.
In 2021 she appeared as Filiz in Akıncı, an action and superhero series on ATV — a genre that is still uncommon on Turkish television, which made the show stand out from the usual family dramas. In the summer of 2023 she returned to screens as Zehra Uncu in The Blue Exile (Maviye Sürgün), a drama that ran for 26 episodes on Show TV.
Personal Life
Ayça Erturan married director Oğulcan Kırca on August 31, 2014. Her husband is the son of the late Levent Kırca, one of Turkey’s best-known comedians and stage actors. The couple welcomed their daughter, Nova, in 2021.
